The position holder will be expected to manage a timely, safe, efficient and cost-effective estates operations and maintenance service. Responsible to the Deputy Head of Estates with line management responsibility of all operational Electrical, trade, speciality technicians, charge hands and supervisors employed within the Estates Department.
The post holder will be the Trust’s specialist for all aspects of Engineering & Building Services including the responsibility for the reliability of the engineering infrastructure, systems and equipment. The post holder should expect to develop a positive/close working relationship with all other Facilities and Estates Managers, Divisional Departments Senior Management in both Clinical and Non-Clinical areas and to participate as a member of Projects Team for all issues relating to the operational and maintenance issues.
Responsibilities
Responsible for Engineering (Electrical) services to the Trust.
To provide a quality Estates service responsive to the Trust operational needs.
Provide in-depth professional and technical estate guidance.
To ensure compliance with all Statutory Standards, Codes of Practice, Health and Safety Guidance, Health Technical Memoranda, COSHH, Building Regulations and NHS Executive Directives relevant to Estates Services.
To ensure engineering maintenance, including contract work, is carried out to the proper standard and specification.
Be responsible for maintenance of specialist services and equipment utilised in the delivery of patient care in line with regulatory standards.
Review and monitor the mechanical and electrical engineering service planned preventative maintenance system (PPM) to ensure statutory and obligatory compliance (SPM) is maintained.
Be AP for HV Systems & LV Systems.
Maintain and implement the site asset register.
Undertake minor schemes and Capital Works.
Responsible for monitoring and reporting performance.
Apply disciplinary measures.
Maintain and update policies and procedures for the division.
To participate in the Emergency on call rota and support operational workers who are doing out of hour duties.
Provide cover for colleagues as appropriate.
Assistance with project tasks and ad hoc reporting.
