Responsible to: Registered Manager – Manor Healthcare Domiciliary Care Agency

The person appointed will join a team of support staff working to achieve the objectives of the initiative.

The initiative seeks to help clients to establish and maintain a house where they will be encouraged, helped and supported to attain maximum independence within the boundaries of individual capacity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Promoting and supporting the ideals that support the work of Manor Healthcare Domiciliary Care Agency.

Take necessary action to deal with crises or difficult situations in accordance with Manor Healthcare policies and procedures and the relevant Trust Protocols and Guidelines.

Manor Tracking Responsibilities
Healthcare Domiciliary Care Agency’s policy in relation to Protection of Vulnerable Adults, and Safeguarding measures.

To operate in line with Manor Healthcare rules, procedures and guidelines as applicable in the delivery of service.

Helping to create a cosy atmosphere.

  • Accompanying clients on outings/activities and holidays either individually or as part of a group as and when required
  • Giving clients guidance and support on things like cooking, budgeting, personal hygiene etc.

Meeting the needs of people in care.

Participate in regular reviews with clients.

Observing and reporting strange behaviours, accidents or occurrences involving clients and dealing with these as required in accordance with Manor Healthcare rules.

A commitment to support clients who may present with challenging behaviours and may need the use of restrictive or physical interventions in a compassionate and appropriate way and in compliance with mandated training and Manor Healthcare Domiciliary Care Agency’s Policies and Guidelines.

In accordance with the Policies and Procedures of the Manor Healthcare Domiciliary Care Agency on the administration of medication.

Adherence to policies and processes for processing and preserving financial records of clients.

Attending staff meetings etc. to actively participate in the team approach to assisted living.

Maintaining good communication, written, verbal and non-verbal as necessary at all times.

Training in the area of the held position.

Full participation in the Supervision and Performance Development and Review procedures at Manor Healthcare.

Carrying out nite shift tasks as necessary. Any other duties as assigned.

  • Working collaboratively with all relevant specialists and agencies.
  • Allowing access to, cooperating with and RQIA or Trust officials.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 3.

The post holder will be expected to:

Responsible for his/her own ongoing learning and development including full participation in Reviews/appraisals in an effort to optimise his/her potential and continue to satisfy the demands of the role.

Represent Manor Healthcare in its mission to provide the greatest possible standard of service to patients/clients and members of the public, treating all whom he/she comes into contact in the course of work in a pleasant, professional and respectful manner.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: KEY CRITERIA

The capacity to offer, in a sensitive manner, practical assistance and support to clients in all areas of social skill development, domestic skill development, personal care and emotional support.

An understanding and commitment to the key care values as outlined by the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) ie Respect, Dignity, Privacy, Independence and Individuality.

Satisfactory Enhanced Access NI check (required on offer of job)

Respect and care for others.

Have a real dedication to working as part of a team within a caring environment.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERABLE CRITERIA

NVQ/QCF Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)

Registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council

Knowledge of the principles of Supported Living.

Previous experience of working in a care setting.

Experience in working with people with challenging behaviours and complex support requirements.

Have a full UK driving licence.
