iMaintain is a pre-revenue AI software firm providing technology for the maintenance, engineering, manufacturing and asset management sectors.
We are a two person startup right now therefore this is not a normal software engineer job. This is for someone who wants to help develop a company, not merely write code.
You’ll be involved in everything from beginning to end – identifying customer challenges, helping develop product needs, designing user interfaces, building new features, rapidly testing ideas, upgrading the platform, and helping to construct the processes that allow the firm to scale.
Our platform is now hosted on AWS and leverages a variety of Large Language Models to provide intelligent answers and workflow help to our clients. We envision greater plug-and-play APIs and interfaces into CMMS, EAM, ERP and document storage systems that enable organisations to pipe their maintenance and engineering data directly into intelligent AI-driven products.
We already have interest from major organisations and large-scale manufacturing settings such as BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Aptiv and others. If we execute properly, our product has the potential to make a big impact across industry and the appropriate person coming now will have the opportunity to play a major role in that journey.
This is not a job for the faint-hearted. You’ll have to wear several jobs, be resourceful, work through ambiguity and get scrappy when you need to. You’re not always going to have excellent briefs or ideal systems or a big staff around you. You will be called upon to help construct those systems.
There is a clear route to being a future CTO for the right person as we scale the firm and grow the technical staff.
Duties:
As our Founding Software Developer, you’ll:
Design, build, test and deploy new features across the iMaintain platform
Work closely with the entrepreneurs to turn client feedback into actual product functionality.
Design technical architecture and make important decisions on scalability, security, APIs and integrations.
Develop and enhance user interface features to make complex maintenance and engineering data user friendly.
Developing backend features, APIs and connectors with third party systems.
Work together on AWS-based infrastructure to optimise deployment, monitoring and dependability.
Support AI and LLM use across the platform, from quick workflows to model integrations, data retrieval and customer-specific outputs.
Assist in designing plug-and-play connectors into CMMS, EAM, ERP and Document Storage platforms.
Build internal tools, procedures and systems that allow the organization to move rapidly and operate successfully.
Own technological challenges from design to delivery.
Work directly with customers and industry partners as needed to understand requirements and develop the product. Help to shape long-term technological strategy as the business evolves.

Experience in distilling complex high amounts of data into easy KPIs and data visualizations/dashboards/scorecards.
Keep up with the latest social measurement trends and relevant industry developments.

About the position
For many data organisations, a dataset is the product of a huge team of analysts. Here, it’s the output of a fleet of AI agents — and one person who wagers his reputation on it being right.
This is the role. You’re the reason institutional clients like banks, hedge funds and financial firms trust the data. The extraction is being done by AI agents. You guide them, question the output, capture what they miss and encode your judgement into validation mechanisms that make the whole pipeline better over time.
You’ll also deal directly with clients, explaining approach to smart buyers that need to know what they are relying on.
This is not a QA. It’s the most owned position and the most visible to clients in the firm. The information will have your name. And you’ll have a seat at the table for that, a very senior one.
