Job Description

An intriguing opportunity has arisen to join The Walton Centre Neurology Team. The Division of Neurology offers a wide range of clinical and non-clinical services in 14 hospitals, including a full neurological outpatient service. The successful candidate will be a part of the Neurology Divisional Senior Team and will report to the Clinical Business Manager. The job is headquartered at The Walton Centre.


Main Duties

  • The post holder will have responsibility for the day to day operational management of the Neurology service.
  • Provide operational leadership and support to sub-specialities including pathway building, service improvement and providing rigorous Data quality KPI.
  • Responsible for providing services within agreed quality boundaries, recognising improvements and potential hazards within areas of responsibility.
  • The candidate will be responsible for operational performance, and for ensuring delivery of KPI’s including waiting time targets and contracted activity levels.
  • Assistance with activity planning and capacity and demand modelling planning.
  • Take ownership of service delivery against defined quality standards, identifying improvements and potential hazards in the areas you are responsible for.
  • Support the divisional leadership team in delivering cost improvement plans (CIP) and have budgetary power and responsibility for certain areas.
  • The post will help the Divisional Manager and Clinical Business Manager with service improvements and lead on specific activities within Divisional Transformation efforts to ensure great quality of care is delivered.
  • You need good communication and leadership skills, and to be able to demonstrate that you can keep positive in difficult times.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level or similar experience
  • Relevant management or leadership qualification/training
  • Recent, relevant CPD evidence

Desirable

  • IHRIM certification or applicable experience

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in a health care setting in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Detailed knowledge and comprehension of NHS targets and key performance metrics.
  • Knowledge & comprehension of NHS national guidance application.
  • Knowledge and knowledge with NHS Governance agenda and processes (including litigation, complaints process and risk management).
  • Knowledge & grasp of NHS & Trust objectives & priorities.
  • Knowledge and awareness of the NHS Corporate roles and requirements e.g. IG, GDPR and Data quality.
  • A systematic and logical knowledge of the planning and organisation of services.
  • Experience of service development or change management.
  • Experience in authoring reports and business case creation.
  • Experience in policy formulation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage successfully and foster strong and productive employee relations.
  • Experience of managing a broad range of staff groups.
  • Knowledge and expertise of HR rules and practices including recruitment, selection, appraisal, performance management etc.
  • Experience in completing timesheets or SVLs.
  • Experience in budget statement analysis and CIP plan development.
