Healthcare Assistant – NHS Visa Sponsorship
Part time (28.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday 8am-4.30pm, rota for weekend cover.
We are seeking an eager and driven individual to join the Hewitt Fertility team at Knutsford to provide care for a mixed patient population. The post holder will help provide the service and contribute to the effective operation of the Department ensuring you contribute toward a superior patient experience. To support doctors and qualified nursing / midwifery personnel in the provision of high quality evidence based and personalised care of patients.
The function is multifaceted and includes patient support, direct treatment, taking blood samples and Chaperoning. There are some parts of administration work.
The post holder will work as part of a team, supporting the organization in delivering the highest standard of service. The post holder will be an advocate for the 6 C’s culture of compassionate care – Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Commitment and Courage. You will be required to supervise and instruct non registered personnel and help new staff with supervision from senior team members.
To help provide the service and to support the department to run effectively making sure they help to provide an excellent patient experience. To support doctors and certified nursing personnel in delivering high quality evidence based and individualised care of patients. To give care and assistance to family and carers attending the Department. The applicant is expected to be a good team player and contribute to the optimal utilisation of resources.

Duties
Assist with general bed making, cleaning beds and lockers, trolleys and preparing for incoming admissions including putting up theatre beds and associated documentation.
To do and be accountable for normal duties under the supervision of the qualified nurse / midwife e.g. preparation of notes and equipment on the ward / clinic
Make sure the patient’s possessions are locked away securely according to hospital standards.
Provide day to day support and care in aiding patients with difficulties and escorting to various Trust departments as required
Assist with patient transfers where required, using appropriate equipment, where and when required.
Perform and record generic patient records e.g.
several baseline observations such as blood pressure temperature respirations weight height urinalysis pregnancy testing
Keep fluid intake and outflow charts as necessary
Collect specimens as requested including phlebotomy for patients/partners
Maintain daily ward statistics of admissions and discharges as necessary and enter on appropriate systems.
To assess, prioritise and organise needs of patients and cater to accordingly; To keep patients informed and reassured at all times under supervision.
Preemptively address the requirements of the patient/partner.
Give and get information on patients/partner and pass it to the skilled nurse or consultant if needed
Able to display tact, diplomacy, empathy, calm and professionalism at all times to patients, visitors and coworkers.
Ensure the confidentiality of the patients always.
Ability to establish rapport with patients / partner / carers / colleagues.
Manage overall stock levels on the ward.
Answer the phone using good communication skills and pass messages on when necessary
Assist with inductions to ward and development of others as directed.
Decontaminating equipment as required ensuring that infection control measures are followed and that the proper accompanying paperwork is completed.
To chaperone in line with Trust policies
Report any repairs immediately to the proper department.
Any additional reasonable duties as may be required by management.
