Logistics Manager – UK Visa Sponsorship
Based in Sunderland, Obateni African Foods is a rapidly expanding African and ethnic grocery retail and wholesale company. We provide a wide variety of African and foreign food items to retail and wholesale clients in Sunderland and the surrounding Northeast.
We are looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee the efficient movement, receiving, storage, and distribution of goods throughout our operations as our business and product line continue to grow.
Planning and organising the flow of goods from suppliers to receipt, storage, and completion of retail and wholesale orders will fall within the purview of the logistics manager.
The chosen applicant will collaborate closely with suppliers, management, and operational personnel to guarantee timely product delivery, effective stock movement within the company, and precise fulfilment of customer orders.
Principal duties
Arrange and manage supplier delivery.
Oversee delivery schedules and make sure that stock is received on time.
Organise the flow of goods between retail, wholesale fulfilment, storage, and receiving operations.
To maintain proper inventory levels, keep an eye on stock-flow requirements and collaborate with purchasing and operational personnel.
When necessary, work with suppliers, couriers, goods, and distribution service providers to establish logistics.
Track delivery performance and address shortages, damaged items, delays, and other logistical problems.
Create effective processes for product distribution, handling, storage, and receipt.
Organise the preparation and delivery of orders from customers and wholesalers.
Keep precise records of delivery, logistics, and stock movement.
Keep an eye on logistical expenses and look for ways to increase operational effectiveness.
Make sure you follow the proper handling and storage protocols, especially when it comes to food items.
Encourage adherence to health and safety regulations, food safety regulations, and other relevant operating needs.
Give senior management regular reports on operations and logistics.
Encourage the company’s retail and wholesale distribution divisions to continue growing.
Essential prerequisites
proven expertise in supply-chain operations, inventory control, distribution, logistics, or a closely related subject.
knowledge of managing suppliers, delivery, stock transportation, and/or order fulfilment.
strong planning and organising abilities.
the capacity to recognise and fix issues with stock flow and delivery.
strong reporting and record-keeping abilities.
strong supplier management and communication abilities.
the capacity to handle conflicting operational priorities while working independently.
strong IT abilities, including knowledge of stock/inventory systems and spreadsheets.
Desired specifications
a degree or professional certification in retail management, supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a similar field.
experience working in FMCG, wholesale, grocery, or food retail.
familiarity with international and African food supply chains and goods.
knowledge of both wholesale and retail businesses.
