Job Overview
Post holders will be expected to undertake training to achieve a basic knowledge/ level of competence in sexual health relevant to the post and to be able to function across all sites of the integrated service in accordance with service demands. Weekend & evening working will be need to be built into working hours flexibility
This role is working with visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be awarded where candidates match the particular standards stipulated by UKVI including the applicable skill and income limits and any role specific criteria. For example, to be eligible for sponsorship, applicants applying for the Senior HCA post need to be able to demonstrate a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same role.
If you are applying under a Graduate visa you must have at least 18 months left on your visa when you apply as your right to work.
An amazing opportunity has arisen to join the busy and dynamic Nursing team as a Clinic Support Worker within the Sexual Health and Contraception Service in Brighton. The Brighton Integrated Sexual Health Service is based at three venues with outreach to other sections of the city. We are a progressive, multi-professional team, offering a full, evidence-based and patient-focused service for Contraception and Sexual Health.
Experience in venepuncture and/or diagnostic microscopy is desirable but not essential as all necessary training will be provided to the successful candidate/s. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as the work needs a sensitive, confidential and non-judgemental way at all times. It is crucial to show evidence of previous team working and flexibility.

Essential Requirements
Essential for this post is previous NHS or NHS primary care experience and you will also need to hold a Care Certificate from an Ofqual authorised awarding organization. Or that you are an internationally educated nurse/midwife/doctor, worked in an acute NHS Trust in the last few years and have evidence of your degree confirmed by an ENIC report.

The position holder will be responsible for the provision of planned high quality nursing care that supports the integrated service (the service) purpose of providing effective care that encompasses and responds to the sexual health and contraception needs of patients attending the service.
Following in-house training and successful completion of competency based tests, the position holder will deliver evidence based, clinical patient care that promotes holistic sexual and reproductive health care of patients accessing the program. The work will include Venepuncture, assisting medical and nursing staff with intimate genital examinations, specimen collection and delivery of contraception care, acting as a chaperone, performing diagnostic microscopy, facilitating asymptomatic patient pathways, recording patient observations (blood pressure, weight, height) and sexual health discussion / health promotion (including C-Card and condom provision.
The post holder will be responsible for preparing clinical area and assisting colleagues in the genital biopsy, Horizon, IUD / IUS and implant clinic.
The position holder will be needed to act autonomously when undertaking venepuncture and diagnostic microscopy and required to make clinical diagnosis based upon their microscopy assessment.
The position holder will be working across hub and spoke sites around Brighton and Hove and will be expected to work some evenings and weekends.
