The Function
There is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and caring Senior Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) to join the Medical Assessment Unit team at NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
The Medical Assessment Unit’s goal is to give every patient a top-notch, secure, and encouraging atmosphere.
Under the guidance and assistance of a Registered Nurse, the Senior Healthcare Support Worker will be an essential member of the multidisciplinary team providing person-centred care to patients in the acute hospital setting.
In accordance with current Home Office regulations, each role will be evaluated for sponsorship eligibility. Only in these situations can NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) grant a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
Time, Place, and Work Schedule:
This position is permanent.
We offer 36 to 18 hours of full and part-time work.
These hours will be worked in 12-hour stints on rotating days and nights, Monday through Sunday.
This position will be located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
Please be aware that the pay for part-time work is pro rata.
Important Duties
You will ensure that high standards of care are upheld at all times by giving patients, carers, and family members compassionate, person-centred care. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, perform a variety of assigned patient care tasks, such as patient observations, urinalysis, blood pressure monitoring, pregnancy testing, wound care, stoma care, and peripheral cannula removal; appropriately report any concerns or changes in a patient’s physical or psychological condition.
You will effectively communicate with patients, family members, and other members of the multidisciplinary team, answering questions and raising issues when necessary. Encourage the safe transfer and mobility of patients and help keep the clinical setting tidy, safe, and productive.
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times and keep correct and current patient records in accordance with information governance regulations. Respect NHSGGC regulations, procedures, and safe work practices, such as proper equipment use, stock control, housekeeping duties, and reporting equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
Maintain skills, knowledge, and professional standards by taking part in continuing education, training, and personal development activities.
The skills, education, credentials, and/or experience needed to perform the job:
SVQ 3 certification or comparable knowledge acquired through short courses, on-the-job training, and experience in a pertinent field.
knowledge, comprehension, and adherence to rules and procedures, such as the escort policy, infection prevention and control, and health and safety. As a result, this position holder can work within the parameters of their profession while being directly and indirectly supervised by the registered nurse (training will be offered).
