Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Support Worker to join our First Response Services in Chester, working from our site at the Countess of Chester. The successful applicant will be expected to work across Urgent Care Mental Health First Response Services which will include Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams, Liaison Services, Street Triage Services, Liaison and Diversion Services and Crisis Line.
Main tasks of the position
The post holder will be responsible for supporting qualified practitioners within the Urgent Care Mental Health First Response Service.
The job will operate as a second responder and designated driver for the Community Response Vehicles, working alongside the Band 6 Practitioner during the face to face community assessments. The post holder will contribute to risk management and observation on visits and provide help to families and carers in the home.
You will be responsible for signposting and referral of persons to relevant services and for creating strong partnerships with third sector organisations and partner agencies to collaboratively fulfil the needs of people experiencing crisis.
The job holder will be expected to work as part of the Urgent Care Mental Health First Response service which comprises; Crisis Triage & Response services (Crisis Line), Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment teams and the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS).

Qualifications and Education
Necessary
NVQ level 3 in Health or social care NVQ 3 Apprenticeship in health or social care- or comparable qualification
Evidence of a system of training in supporting people with mental health
Trained in psychosocial interventions or prepared to undergo training
Desirable
Honours degree in Psychology.
Advanced IT and typing skills.
Relevant academic credentials

Essential
Understanding confidentiality issues and how they relate to mental health policy and practice approaches
Good understanding of current concerns in professional staff development and ongoing service improvement notably in context to adult mental health services
Show an awareness of the concepts and practice of anti-discriminatory practice
Show a comprehension of care plans including risk management planning and safety plans
Show knowledge of supervision
Know the role of support staff in CPA.
Ability to explain complex and sensitive information where there may be difficulties to comprehension e.g. needing empathy and reassurance
Skills to assess individuals by telephone
Capacity to make judgements which involve a range of information or situations requiring analysis and comparison of a range of possibilities
Required
Understanding the psychological approach
Knowledge of mental health law and policy
