Purpose of Role

As a Safeguarding Social Worker you will be leading on complicated safeguarding work with adults at risk making that practice is rights led, trauma informed and based on sound professional judgement.

You will work directly with adults, families, carers and advocates, utilising your professional voice to analyse risk, promote autonomy and protection and create meaningful outcomes.

This job is about confident, relational safeguarding, not procedure driven answers, supporting adults to be heard and safeguarded.

Gain advanced skills and professional confidence via extensive exposure to sophisticated protection, self-neglect and legal decision making.

Primary duties

Lead Section 42 Safeguarding enquiries from first decision to outcome under Care Act 2014.

Work directly with persons at risk, families, carers and advocates with lived experience, rights and outcomes at the heart of practice.

Chair and contribute to multi agency safeguarding meetings to ensure safeguarding strategies are purposeful and reasonable.

Apply the Mental Capacity Act and related legal frameworks in complicated situations involving danger, autonomy and protection.

Analyse risk and evidence and challenge both internally inside the organisation and with partner agencies if required.

Provide clear, analytical and defensible recording that demonstrates professional reasoning and ethical decision making.

Help to build a culture of learning, reflection and safeguarding improvement.

At Liverpool City Council you will create and deploy solutions across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem that will support services, streamline procedures and enable better decision making.

Contribute to multi agency safeguarding action including MASH, MARAC and MAPPA.

About the candidate:

• We are seeking for practitioners who can show:

Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW or similar).

Registered with Social Work England.

Experience dealing with persons with complex needs, carers and families.

Strong assessment and risk management skills using a strengths-based, person-centred approach.

Knowledge of applicable legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983.

Ability to work independently as well as within a busy, supportive team.

Good written and verbal communication skills and the courage to chair meetings and manage multi-agency operations.

Commitment to CPD, introspection and supporting good practice.
