This position will be located on-site in Colchester, a five-bedroom residence for adolescents aged 11 to 17. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will assist young people who have been traumatised.

A certain type of person is needed to work as a residential worker. Every day is different and full of highs and lows. Your primary focus will be on giving traumatised children nurturing therapeutic care, supporting and caring for them as a parent would.

Although prior experience working in a children’s home would be advantageous, you could be qualified for the position with a variety of talents. It’s critical to have an open mind, a flexible and adaptive mindset, and the ability to handle difficulties with composure and patience. Using a variety of de-escalation strategies, you will be able to comprehend and deal with difficult conduct, such as violence and hostility. Additionally, you will need to be proficient in both written and spoken communication.

After successfully completing your probationary period, you will be assisted in obtaining a Level 3 Diploma if you do not already have one. This must be done within two years. We will also give you regular, high-quality supervision and all the training required for the position. This will give you the confidence to begin your career with Essex County Council, together with the appropriate mindset and access to a thorough internal induction.

You will work 37 hours a week in a combination of early (7:00 am–14.30 pm) and late (14:00 pm–21.30 pm) shifts seven days a week, 365 days a year, with every other weekend off.

If you are selected for further consideration, the interview procedure will be one-step and you will have a face-to-face interview at your house.

Because of the nature of the position, candidates must be at least 21 years old.

A guarantyd allowance of 10%, or £2,628.60 to £3,325.60 annually, is paid monthly in addition to the basic income, which ranges from £26,286 to £33,256 annually.
