Employment: Zero hours contract
Salary: £8.00 – £12.71 per hour based on age
Hours: Full time or part time – your choice. Minimum 20 hours/week commitment. Shifts are between 7.30am and 6pm and include weekends and bank holidays on a rotas basis.

A&T Trained Dogs is a licensed training, boarding, creche and grooming center based in seven acres of the Lancashire countryside just outside Lancaster. 100 Kennels Indoor and outdoor training spaces Team with over 30 years expertise between them . We also train for families and professional jobs, including family protection dogs and assistance dogs, in addition to boarding and childcare.
We are recruiting Animal Welfare Assistants to join the team caring for the dogs in our care on a day to day basis.
What you will be doing
Feed, water and monitor each dog in your section per their care plan
Maintain cleanliness and disinfection standards for kennels, runs, nursery area and equipment
Exercise and walking dogs on lead and supervision of off lead and group play
looking for indicators of disease, injury, stress or changes in behaviour and telling someone quickly.
Administer medications as directed and retain accurate written records
Capable of calmly and safely handling dogs of various sizes and varieties, including working breeds such as German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois
Being on hand to help with arrivals and departures and discussing with owners their dog’s stay
Assisting the training staff as required and maintaining the site tidy, safe and secure
What We’re Looking For
Genuine concern for animal welfare and the patience to go with it
Confident, calm handling of big and powerful canines (or a sincere willingness to learn – full training supplied)
Physically strong and happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions, the job entails lifting, bending and being on your feet all day
Reliable and punctual with the ability to work early mornings, weekends and bank holidays on a rota
Works as part of a team but also can work independently sensibly
Ability to follow instructions and written care plans closely and to keep clear records
Happy to be photographed and filmed for our social media platforms if needed – this is part of how we promote the dogs and the site
Helpful, but not required
Previous experience working with dogs in a kennel, creche, veterinary practice, rescue or farm setting
Animal Care Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification
First aid for dogs
Full UK driving licence and your own transport – we are in a rural location with limited public transport
