We have an amazing opportunity for a Communications Lead to join the South London Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN) led by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The Communications Manager will oversee communications nationally and across the regions as part of the Research Delivery Network (RDN) Communications Team, which is split between the 12 Regional Research Delivery Networks (RRDN) and the RDN Coordinating Center. As a senior member of the RDN Communications Team you will provide a high quality, professional and proactive communications service for the RDN regionally and nationally. You will report to the RRDN Head of Strategy, Engagement and Inclusion.
Principal job duties
The role will be responsible for RDN communication using a variety of channels that will raise the profile of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Delivery Network (RDN) as a high quality health and care research organization. They will provide a corporate communication strategy and related communication activities, engagement events and marketing initiatives to support the RDN in achieving its strategic objectives and demonstrating the RDN’s effect. They will also have line management responsibilities for the Communications Officer.

Public Health Wales provides health protection services for the people of Wales. The integrated service is primarily delivered through health protection teams, Communicable Disease Surveillance Center (CDSC); health protection programs (e.g. healthcare associated infections, antimicrobial resistance & prescribing (HARP) immunisation and vaccine preventable diseases (VPDP), Blood borne viruses (BBV), sexual health, TB and Inequalities and environmental health protection) and the microbiology laboratories and reference laboratories / specialist services. The post holder will provide information management and analytical support to the Health Protection Division focused on support to the Health Protection Division. This will require contact with a range of stakeholders, with close interaction with colleagues in Health Boards and Public Health Wales Informatics.
Primary responsibilities of the position
We are searching for experienced, inventive, collaborative and dynamic individuals to join a team of analytical professionals within the Communicable Disease Surveillance Center (CDSC) to deliver a proactive and responsive service.
The job holder will give analytical support to the creation and management of public health surveillance programs within CDSC. This will need the development of analysis plans and advice on the efficient analysis of huge datasets as needed. Support may be in any of the CDSC’s areas of competence as required:
Healthcare Associated Infection, Antimicrobial Resistance and Prescribing Program (HARP)
Blood Borne Viruses, Sexual Health, TB and Inequalities
Zoonoses and Disease of the Gastrointestinal Tract
Respiratory Infection and Vaccine-Preventable Disease
Cross-cutting groups include field epidemiology, settings-based surveillance, and environmental surveillance.
The post-holder will be based within the BBV, STI, TB and Inequalities team but will be required to execute surveillance duties as part of the CDSC cycle and cover other areas as necessary as part of an information analytics team.
