Duties
Provide bespoke support to children and young people, assisting them to develop socially, emotionally and developmentally
Establish trust-based relationships through mentoring, active listening and positive reinforcement
Support with daily living tasks such as personal care, educational and recreational activities
Collaborate with families, educators and other professionals to establish and implement plans of support
Assist youngsters with learning assignments and skill building exercises as part of the teaching assistance activities
Supervise interactions to ensure health and safety procedures are followed and promote a safe atmosphere
Support independence (choice making, life skills)
Specifications
Experience of working with children/young people in a supportive or education environment
Strong mentoring skills and the capacity to motivate and inspire others
Understanding of teaching approaches that may respond to different learning demands
Strong communication abilities to communicate successfully with children, families and team members
A caring attitude with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in other people’s lives
Flexibility to work multiple shifts and respond to changing needs
Relevant qualifications or training in aiding children or social care is desirable
