Job Description Summary

The key elements of the post will be to ensure that housekeeping and patient food services are provided to the acceptable standards and within the approved budgets and to act as a lead for specified initiatives within the department. They will develop staff by training and coaching and will be involved in staff appraisal.

The role demands excellent communication skills and the capacity to build productive relationships at all levels. The job holder will be responsible for the financial budgets across the site and will be accountable for delivering established objectives within the business strategy as laid out. They will ensure that resources and standards provided to the team are properly and efficiently used to generate approved outcomes as defined by key performance metrics.The Facilities Manager will be responsible for contributing to a safe and comfortable housekeeping service and patient food services to the patients, staff and visitors in the hospital.

The key aspects of the role are to ensure that the needs of staff and patients are satisfied through excellent delivery of the facilities services including cleaning and ward food and beverage services.

To lead projects within and related to Facilities Services as assigned by the Senior Facilities Manager. This will involve managing the project from idea, planning and design, pricing, managing/monitoring through to close out.

Take an active role in the financial management of specified cost centers in the department and lead the business planning for the department identifying areas of savings and re-aligning services to achieve efficiency.

To monitor and influence the allocation of the workforce (staff bank & agency bookings/annual leave/special leave) in keeping with the department’s financial targets and trust policies.

To guarantee that the methods and systems in the facilities department are in compliance with all legislative requirements through the establishment and implementation of relevant policies and procedures and through adequate audit and control. To manage all workers to ensure that the local teams achieve the targets established and the staffs themselves have outstanding possibilities for development to fulfil their potential.
