Role Overview

The Transport & Distribution Manager manages and optimises the Company’s logistics and distribution operations, ensuring efficient coordination of shipments, inventory movement and delivery performance across local and international routes.

This is a key function in supporting the Company’s growth through operational efficiency improvements, managing logistics procedures and ensuring that goods are carried, stored and delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner.


Main duties

Logistics and Distribution Management

Plan, co-ordinate and manage the end to end transportation and distribution activities within the Company’s logistics network

● Responsible for inbound and outbound shipments to ensure delivery and service requirements are met

Coordinate freight movement, delivery schedules and warehouse operations.

● Efficient management of goods from purchase to final delivery


Operations Oversight & Coordination

● Manage daily logistics operations to ensure efficient order fulfilment and delivery processes

● Interact with warehouse staff, transport providers and operational personnel to ensure service efficiency

● Oversee the logistics operations workflow, including receipt, storage, picking, packing and shipping


KPI Management And Performance Monitoring

● Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, order accuracy, stock turnover and fulfilment rates

● Analyse operational data to find inefficiencies and apply process improvements

● Produce regular performance reports for upper management for decision making


Supply Chain & Partner Management

Liaise with suppliers, goods providers and third party logistics partners to ensure reliable service delivery

● Manage transport provider relationships and negotiate service levels and delivery times

● Ensure cooperation between procurement, warehouse and distribution functions


Inventory and Warehouse Management

● Supervise inventory procedures to maintain stock correctness and availability

● Assist with warehouse organisation and optimisation to enhance productivity and reduce handling time

● Maintain effective stock control at all operational sites


Financial and Cost Management Efficiency

● Monitor transport and logistics expenses and find potential for cost reduction and efficiency improvements

● Help with budgeting and forecasting for logistics and distribution activities

● Optimise resource utilisation throughout logistics operations


Risk and compliance management

Ensure all logistics and transport activities adhere to applicable rules and company policies

● Ensure health and safety standards are maintained in warehouse and transport operations

● Identify operational risks and apply mitigating techniques


Management of the Team and Operational Duties

● Supervise and coordinate logistics workers and operations personnel involved in transport and distribution activities

● To lead, manage and develop teams to deliver effective performance and operational targets

● Assigning tasks, monitoring performance and ensuring effective utilisation of human resources in logistics operations

(If staffing is tight, this may entail oversight of contractors, warehouse operatives or third party logistics professionals.)

Salary: £45,000.00-£50,000.00 per annum

Design Development: Support the design process through the development of creative bedding concepts from original artwork up to final CADs assuring Next Home aesthetic.

Trend Research: Keep an eye on worldwide runways, interior trade events and societal trends to help pinpoint the “next big thing” in colours, textiles and patterns.

Range Building: Work with Buyers, Merchandisers & Technologists to create balanced, economically viable ranges to price point and quality criteria.

Sample Management: Own the sample process, checking lab dips and strike-offs for colour accuracy and print quality.

Cooperation: Daily communication with foreign suppliers and internal teams to maintain clarity of design standards and production progress
