Summary of the Role
We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join our Adult Community Mental Health Services Team in Watford.
There are good transit links to historic Hertfordshire and its lovely countryside, as well as into London and beyond. We are searching for a Social Worker with a passion for offering treatment to persons with mental health difficulties.

Main responsibilities:
Registered with Social Work England.
Experience working in a community based context. Providing care for a caseload of clients living in the Community who are experiencing, or recovering from, mental health challenges.
Direct support and advice to Service Users and Carers, within the recovery model.
To operate as part of a multi-disciplinary Team working in cooperation with a range of stakeholders inside and outside the Trust.
High quality social care services for adults of all ages with mental ill health. The main functions of the post will be to provide assessment, care planning and coordination of care from a social viewpoint to the individuals attending the program.
To provide recovery focused care and support for service users and their carers based on the values of choice, control and independence and to ensure safety.
You will have a caseload that may include people with a wide range of mental health and social care needs.You will ensure that you are continually reflecting on and developing your practice and that you are ensuring your continuous professional development in line with the requirements set forth by the professional regulator, Social Work England.
If you are not an AMHP presently, you will be supported in your development to undergo the training required to assume the AMHP job as your career develops. If you are an AMHP you will be part of the Trust’s countywide AMHP rota.

Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties
To be an advocate for social care with a broad understanding of statute and statutory guidelines.
To lead on the promotion of adult safeguarding practice. Undertake safeguarding enquiries and contribute to the creation of care plans that protect both adults and children from abuse.
To undertake comprehensive assessments and reviews. For people who may present with a high risk, or those with significant interpersonal, social, legal and/or environmental complexities. Ensure people are assessed appropriately against social care eligibility criteria as defined by the Care Act 2014.
To provide direct support to service users and their carers and colleagues, including information and advice, so that individuals who do not fulfil social care eligibility are signposted and supported appropriately.
To ensure that appropriate health and social care services are commissioned with and on behalf of the service users, including the duty to offer direct payments. To ensure that processes are in place for the service users to be charged by the local authority for the social care services they receive, if applicable.
Commissioned services should offer choice to service users and carers and be aimed at persons living in the community who have appropriate support and access to universal services.
Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure the protection of vulnerable populations.
To carry out carer assessments including identifying contingency plans and assistance.
Be able to work in cooperation and discover, develop and support a range of recovery focused community services ensuring that colleagues within the locality are also aware of advances and best practice.
To ensure service users and their carers are involved so that the Trust may learn from their experiences to make improvements to service delivery
To maintain accurate computer records of all work undertaken up to date.
To do your own post qualifying and other suitable training to maintain high standards of practice and your registration with Social Work England.
To give managerial and reflective supervision to newly qualified social workers and unregistered social care staff.
To support newly qualified social workers through the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) including opportunities to train as an ASYE assessor.
To conduct duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or willingness to pursue AMHP training
To engage in your own regular supervision and to ensure that you regularly reflect about your own practice as a social worker and AMHP.
To undertake such other activities and duties as are part of the delegated social care responsibilities accepted by the Trust on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council.
Adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
To undergo such further training as may be necessary.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your Line Manager.
