Nursing Support Worker – Health and Care Visa
Job Summary
An fantastic opportunity has arisen for a creative, motivated and imaginative Nursing Support Worker to join the nursing team on Steffan Ward, Glangwili General Hospital. Steffan is an 18 beds ward focusing on Gasteroenterology and Haematology.
We are looking for a forward thinking, professional individual with great communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities to deliver gold standard evidenced based treatment to our patients.
The ideal individual will enjoy a proactive and supportive professional atmosphere.
The profession demands strong organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to work well in a fast paced workplace with frequent admissions and discharges. The post holder will contribute to managing patient flow, providing timely service and a great patient experience.
Ensure the safety of patients/clients who need greater degree of supervision e.g. patients at risk of falls, patients with memory impairment, behavioural needs, mental health/learning disability care needs, reporting any changes to the registered healthcare professional without delay.
Job Main Duties
Successful applicants will:
Undertake delegated care duties as directed by a registered healthcare professional e.g. recording Electrocardiogram, care of and removal of urine catheters, care of stomas, undertake simple wound dressings and wound inspection, removal of peripheral cannula.
Chaperone as needed to support and prepare patients for/during medical interventions or procedures.
Act in accordance with the principles of safeguarding children and adults. Report concerns immediately to the registered healthcare professional.
Be involved in clinical situations, call for help and follow local/national guidelines, working within your scope of practice as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Recognise and report changes in the patient’s physical and psychological requirements to a trained healthcare practitioner. Take initiative within their scope of practice.
Ensure all equipment is kept clean in all clinical and non clinical locations. This could be cleaning all types of equipment and rooms/areas within the care environment.
