1. FareShare Midlands

The biggest food redistribution organisation in the Midlands is called FareShare Midlands.

We collaborate with FareShare UK to save high-quality excess food that would otherwise be wasted. We distribute this excess food to over 60,000 individuals each week through frontline organisations throughout the Midlands.

Join FareShare Midlands as a volunteer to fight food waste and hunger.

With driving the vans, sorting and storing food in our warehouses, and handling office administration, our volunteers offer invaluable assistance. As a volunteer for FareShare Midlands, you are doing whatever it takes to get our edible surplus food to the places where it is most needed.

The good news is that you will also benefit greatly from it! Our volunteers tell us how their experience at FareShare Midlands makes them feel like they are making a difference in their community while also learning new skills, gaining confidence, and making new friends.

Volunteering at FareShare Midlands offers the chance to meet new people, develop new skills, and be active and social in a welcoming setting. We only require that you be able to commit to a few hours a week and that you have the physical capacity to load and unload food if the position is in a warehouse.

2. Great Minds Bright Futures

At the age of twelve, Dave Armstrong began volunteering. By the age of 17, he was riding a bicycle sixty miles from Manchester to Blackpool to participate in the Granada Wheel Appeal. He received the Queen’s Award for Volunteer Services after 10 years of service volunteering to help other men “come out” after using Icebreakers Manchester, the “coming out” group, in his twenties. Dave helped Dr. Frank Mugisha start Icebreakers Uganda in Africa in the 2000s, but it wasn’t until he was standing there listening to Les Pratt at the World Aid’s Day vigil in Manchester in 2004 that he became aware of Malawi and the problems the HIV/AIDS pandemic was causing for Malawians.

Volunteers Wanted! Can you help?

Great Minds Bright Futures is presently seeking volunteers to assist us. We need assistance with aid collection, fundraising, and running our charity shop, which we intend to operate in the coming year!

If any of the aforementioned interests you, send us an email at info@greatmindsbrightfutures.co.uk
