Manager in Transport and Distribution – UK Visa Sponsorship
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and active Manager – Transport & Distribution to lead our logistics operations.
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing transportation activities, coordinating distribution processes and guaranteeing the efficient movement of goods across our supply chain.
The post demands excellent leadership abilities, a thorough understanding of logistics systems and the ability to maximise operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements.
Successful candidates must have a strong background in warehouse management, process improvement and transportation management systems.
Responsibilities
Supervise day-to-day transportation and distribution operations to ensure that products are delivered on time and at a cost-effective price.
Manage and optimise supply chain procedures including shipping & receiving, warehousing and inventory management.
Manage a team of logistics employees, offering direction, training, and performance reviews to cultivate a high-performing workforce.
Use transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and ERP platforms like AS400 to track activities and provide reports.
Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to optimise external distribution channels.
Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs and improve service quality through continuous improvement programs.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations applicable to warehouse operations and transportation activities, including forklift operation standards.
Analyse profit & loss statements to identify opportunities for optimisation in the logistics function.
Develop strategies for optimising shipping & receiving, ensuring high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
Drive process standardisation and automation initiatives to enhance overall operational effectiveness.
Requirements
Proven ability to manage logistics or transportation teams in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Strong understanding of supply chain management fundamentals including logistics planning, warehouse operations and shipping & receiving procedures.
Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), warehousing management systems (WMS), ERP systems like AS400 and process optimisation tools such as continuous improvement approaches.
Understanding of 3PL suppliers, handling complex distribution networks.
Experience of safe operation of forklift trucks in a warehouse environment; certification preferred.
Experience of analysing profit and loss data to inform strategic decisions.
Strong organisational abilities and ability to work on numerous projects at the same time without losing attention to detail.
Excellent leadership skills, supervisory experience in fast paced organisations.
Knowledge of safety regulations as they relate to warehousing and transportation operations.
