The daily administration and coordination of the business’s passenger transport and dispatch activities will fall under the purview of the dispatch and distribution manager.
The main responsibilities will consist of:
Planning and Scheduling for Transportation
Organising and directing day-to-day passenger transportation activities.
arranging travel plans and assigning routes in accordance with operational needs.
coordinating the availability of drivers and allocating suitable drivers to planned trips.
keeping an eye on schedule modifications and making the necessary corrections.
ensuring that planned trips are appropriately organised and conveyed to drivers.
coordinating the operational needs related to the business’s contracts with the West Northamptonshire Council.
keeping an eye on service delivery in relation to contractual obligations and prearranged timetables.
keeping lines of communication open on transport needs relating to the council.
adapting to modifications in council schedules and transportation needs.
assisting the director or owner in keeping up solid business ties with council contacts.
recognising and addressing operational problems that may have an impact on contractual performance.
Driver Coordination
Managing the company’s fifteen independent contractors.
delivering operating guidelines and regular schedules to drivers.
keeping an eye on driver availability and setting up suitable cover when needed.
addressing operational issues and driver enquiries.
ensuring that drivers are given precise information about schedules, routes, and passenger needs.
keeping an eye on service performance and spotting persistent problems with operations.
Dispatch Operations
oversees the daily dispatch procedure.
arranging for pick-up and drop-off.
tracking the progress of the trip and handling any delays, cancellations, or other interruptions.
redistributing travel when operating conditions call for it.
ensuring effective communication of information between drivers, the company, and pertinent parties.
keeping the proper trip and dispatch records.
Operational management
keeps an eye on the transportation operation’s overall performance.
finding ways to increase productivity and service quality.
creating better dispatch and scheduling processes.
helping to put processes in place to increase operational effectiveness.
assisting with backup plans and business continuity.
helping the owner/director grow the transportation business.
helping the business acquire new routes and contracts.
Record-keeping and Compliance
ensuring the proper maintenance of operating records.
assisting the business in fulfilling pertinent contractual, transportation, and health and safety standards.
keeping an eye on records pertaining to drivers and transportation activities.
reporting operational or compliance issues to the director or owner.
helping the company keep the right documentation for its transport operations and council contracts.
Management Role in the Company
The Owner/Director of STAR CAB DAVENTRY LTD will receive direct reports from the proposed Dispatch and Distribution Manager.

Owner/Director; Manager of Dispatch and Distribution; About 15 employees
The manager will do more than just handle administrative tasks. Coordination and management of the company’s transport operations, including trip planning and dispatch, driver coordination, council contract operations, and service performance, will fall within the purview of this role.
