Support Worker – Mercy Hearts Care
Location: Edinburgh, West Lothian & North Lanarkshire
What You’ll Do
Mercy Hearts Care is seeking a caring and reliable Support Worker to join our team and support adults to live safely, independently and with dignity in their own homes.
You will deliver person centred care that respects the individual’s preferences, routine and personality – whether that be supporting an individual with personal care, helping them to remain mobile and safe, or just being excellent company.

The Part You’ll Be Playing
Washing, dressing, continence and catheter care – personal care with dignity and respect.
Support safe transportation & handling, including hoist transfers, according to individual risk assessments and OT instructions.
Each person’s care plan is supported by medication regimes.
Meal preparation and mealtime assistance.
Helping with light domestic chores – cleaning, laundry, making the home safe and comfortable.
Offering friendship and discussion and helping people to stay socially connected and independent.
Getting folks out and about – appointments, activities, hobbies – where they want to be.
Maintain accurate visit records and report any changes in wellness quickly.
Working to unique Personal Plan and objectives, not the same routine for everyone.
Always adhere to Care Inspectorate standards, safeguarding procedures and health & safety processes.
Working well with families, other care workers and professionals including GPs, OTs and social workers.
What We Are Looking For
Experience of caring in a home environment, care homes or similar caring role is preferable – full induction training offered either way.
A very compassionate, patient and courteous attitude to helping people to be independent and make decisions.
Professional and sensitive in delivering personal care.
Good communication abilities, team player but equally adept working on own solo visits.
Reliable and flexible – able to work mornings, evenings or weekends as needed.
Willingness to register with the PVG Scheme (we’ll help you with this).
Willing to work towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare (help available).
Access to a vehicle and a driving licence is an advantage due to the locations we cover.
