The position:

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde are searching for a lively Healthcare Support Worker to join our devoted team. In this exciting role you will have the opportunity to deliver direct patient care and assistance within a busy clinical environment, helping to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care. You will be working with experienced nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues, playing a key role in assisting patients on their healthcare journey. You will be part of one of the major NHS organisations in the UK with outstanding training, development opportunities and the ability to establish a meaningful career making a real difference every day.
All roles will be considered for sponsorship eligibility in line with the current Home Office regulations. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where criteria are satisfied.
Working Pattern and Place, Duration:
Permanent contract
Full time 36 hours
Part time 33.18 hours
You will be situated at Glasgow Royal Infirmary
Shift Pattern: Rotational, Flexible
Please note remuneration is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Main duties:
High quality personal care and assistance to patients with dignity, compassion and respect
Assist patients with daily living activities including eating, bathing and mobility needs
Assist Registered Nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team in the provision of patient care
Monitor and report on changes in patients’ physical and mental health
Maintain detailed patient records and ensure effective communication among the healthcare team.
Help with housekeeping, stock control and safe usage of equipment within the ward environment
Follow all NHSGGC policies, procedures and infection prevention measures to maintain patient and staff safety.
Knowledge, skills, qualifications and/or experience needed to execute the job:
SVQ II qualification in a relevant area or equivalent experience through training and practice
Ability to perform efficiently in a hectic healthcare environment maintaining high standards of care.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to develop strong connections with patients and co-workers
Good powers of observation and ability to detect and report any changes in a patient’s condition
Knowledge of the concepts of secrecy, dignity, respect and individual care
Ability to work cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse
Caring and compassionate approach
Experience in a caring role or setting advantageous
