About Us
The R&D Missions Accelerator Programme is the Government’s main new Mission-led R&D program. Its goal is to change people’s lives and boost the economy.
The program has a budget of £500 million to get businesses, non-profits, and universities to come up with fresh, creative ways to solve the largest challenges in society today. The program will help cutting-edge research, technology, service solutions, and IP that are in line with the UK Government’s five National Missions and help the Plan for Change reach its goals.
The program is working on its methods for each of the Missions right now. Joining at this point gives you a real chance to help shape the program’s strategic and operational direction and set the agenda for how the UK will deal with 2030.
Specific to the mission
Statement of the Challenge for Industrialising and Digitalising Construction:
“We will create a new digital marketplace that will lead to a more industrialised and digitalised way of building, which will boost productivity and speed up the delivery of new homes and public infrastructure.
We will work with both the public and private sectors to create a self-sustaining technology platform that all UK construction stakeholders can use. This platform will give them access to standardised digital designs, components, and processes for manufactured parts, which will make operations more efficient and save 10% of the time and money spent on construction for publicly procured infrastructure by 2030.
The I&D Construction challenge will put Focus Area 3 of the Transforming Infrastructure Performance: Roadmap to 2030 into action. This area focuses on meeting the need for social infrastructure using a platform approach, with a pilot in social housing. To build the next generation of British homes and public buildings, this will need engaging with leaders in business, government, and other areas to create a new digitalised and manufacturing-led operating model. By combining the needs of public sector clients with advanced manufacturing solutions from industry, the operating model and digital tools will be developed together with industry and delivered through a new business. This will lead to long-term changes in the sector. You will work with Catapults, construction, digital and manufacturing companies, trade and industry groups, and the public and private sectors to make building more efficient and environmentally friendly. You will also help businesses find new ways to grow and scale.
This is your chance to boost the economy, create new employment, and make the UK a world leader in innovation. As an Associate Director, you’ll work with national experts to come up with new ideas, build collaborations with stakeholders, and face problems in the industry head-on. You will be very important in making sure that research and business goals are in line, and you will also lead high-impact projects that help the UK reach its economic and environmental goals.
