Main tasks of the job
The person in this position is in charge of helping to provide healthcare services to the jail population. With the help of registered nurses in healthcare, they will provide care within the limits of their job, focused on helping patients stay healthy, keeping an eye on long-term conditions, promoting health, screening, and responding to emergencies. They will collaborate with the Healthcare Team to satisfy the needs of patients and help carry out Local and National Policies and Procedures.

- Respond to medical crises and alerts in general
- Give medicine as agreed upon in areas of competence and under the leadership of a licensed nurse, and function as a “second signatory” as needed.
- Taking care of wounds
- Important tests and observations, such as checking blood pressure, pulse, SATs, and blood sugar levels
- Recording an ECG
- Venepuncture
- Help with small operations
- Testing close to the patient, like INR monitoring
- Advice on how to stay healthy
- Secondary health checkup
- Helping with clinics for preventing, screening, and treating sexual health issues
- Giving extra help to patients who need it, such the old and disabled
- Help prisoners with physical and mental health issues with their daily activities and the creation of care plans.
