Visit Visa for UK NMC OSCE Test
A new option is made available to nurses and midwives who want to take the NMC OSCE in the UK but do not have sponsorship. Eligible candidates may enter the nation under this provision with a six-month guest visa that is intended just for the purpose of taking the NMC OSCE. This implies that nurses and midwives can enter the UK for the sole purpose of completing the NMC OSCE without having to go through the standard visa application process if they are not employed in the UK.
Who is eligible to apply for the UK NMC OSCE
This option for a visitor visa is available to applicants who have received an invitation letter to appear for the Test of Competencies, which consists of both the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and Computer-Based Testing (CBT), and who have valid proof of their English language proficiency, such as the IELTS or OET.
This visa option is especially helpful for candidates who have personal reasons for not wishing to work in the UK, or who are unable to commit to starting a job in the UK because of current workplace laws or a gap in their work experience. Candidates will be allowed to temporarily enter the UK and take the required exams to prove their skills and proficiency by getting this visa.
If you’re taking the OSCE or PLAB test
You can visit for up to 6 months to take the OSCE or PLAB test.
If you do not pass the PLAB test, you can apply to stay in the UK for a further 6 months to retake the test.
If you pass the PLAB test, you can apply to stay in the UK to do an unpaid clinical attachment or dental observer post. You can stay in the UK for up to 18 months in total.
Documents you must provide
You must provide a letter from the Nursing and Midwifery Council confirming your OSCE test registration.
You’ll need a letter from the General Medical Council confirming your PLAB test registration.
