In this post, we’ll guide you through the process of securing a 100 percent tuition-free education through the prestigious Chevening Scholarship in the UK, and I’ll walk you through the steps to apply this incredible opportunity.
People should apply for a scholarship because it offers a unique opportunity to experience the UK.
Today’s agenda is simple as I will talk about everything about this scholarship like eligibility criteria, list of documents needed, timeline, list of courses you can apply, and four important essay questions that you need to prepare for this scholarship.
Agenda 1. What is the Chevening Scholarship?
The British Chevening Scholarship is a UK government-funded scholarship program for international students to study a full-time master’s degree program at UK universities for 12 months.
Agenda 2. Benefits are offered as part of the scholarship.
So this scholarship is fully funded, which means you can study literally for free. Here is the list of things that are covered like
1. Complete tuition fee.
2. Economic class return airline tickets.Â
3. A monthly stipend for living and accommodation expenses.
The monthly stipend will depend on whether you are studying inside or outside London. It is currently on an average of 900 to 1, 000 pounds per month outside London and 1, 100 to 1, 200 pounds per month inside London.Â
4. Cost of visa application.Â
5. Arrival allowance.Â
6. Departure allowance.
7. TB testing reimbursement up to 75 Pounds.Â
So, as you can see, almost all your expenses are covered here.
Agenda 3. Eligibility criteria.
1. You must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries. So make sure to look for the list of countries that are eligible from this link. I have checked a few eligible countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Nigeria, to name a few.
Please remember, that you have to come back to your home country after your master’s and you need to serve your country for two years.
2. You must hold a bachelor’s degree before applying.
3. You must have a minimum of two years of experience which should be equivalent to 2800 hours. Your work experience doesn’t need to be in your related field. You can include any work experience like non-paid internship, volunteering, freelancing, part-time internship, or even full-time internship.
4. You must fulfill the criteria of the English language.
5. Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and receive an unconditional offer from one of these choices.
Agenda 4. List of eligible courses to which you can apply.
Few points to remember here.
1. You will need to select three different master’s courses. This can be three different courses at the same university or three similar courses at up to three different universities. See the full list of courses from this page.
2. Apply for a taught master’s program and not a research-based program.
3. Do not select any part-time courses.
Agenda 5. List of required documents.
1. Educational documents like your bachelor’s degree and transcript.
2. Reference letter with two referees, which is your recommendation letter.
3. Unconditional offer from a master’s program.
Agenda 6. Essays for achieving.
The four essays which you need to write are, the first essay is about your networking skills. The second essay will ask you about your leadership qualities. The third essay will ask you about your future career plans.
And the fourth essay will be about why you want to pursue your studies in the UK. So make sure when you write your essay, it needs to be a compelling 2000-word essay that can showcase your competency, experience and aspiration.
Agenda 7. Timeline. The deadline for the scholarship is the 7th of November, 2023.
Refer to this page for other timelines. Remember three points.
Point one, you cannot apply for a forced study work permit, PSW, which is called a graduate visa.
Point two, Chevening does not have an English language requirement. However, you are still required to meet all the requirements of your chosen university.
Point three, there’s no upper age limit to be eligible for a Chevening award.
We encourage everyone to apply and don’t miss this opportunity.
