Before starting work, the position holder must go through an induction and training period.

Principal responsibilities of the position

In addition to providing the ward’s multidisciplinary team, patients, family members, and carers with first-rate customer service, the ward administrator is also in charge of providing a front-line reception service. Coverage may be needed over the weekend.

The position holder must take the initiative to gather, look into, confirm, and document high-quality patient demographic and treatment data. To ensure the trust receives the right amount of revenue for patient activity, avoids the potential clinical risks associated with inaccurate patient records, and complies with national NHS targets (e.g. on data quality and length of patient wait), the post holder must accurately and promptly enter such information on the computerised patient information system.

In order to support the provision of high-quality patient care, the post-holder must carry out a variety of efficient administrative procedures and engage in effective ahead planning to guarantee that the service’s administrative demands are satisfied.

The ward administrator is in charge of managing and setting priorities for their own workload and will not be under direct supervision on a daily basis.
