Now let’s start with what the seasonal work visa actually is. A seasonal work visa is a temporary work visa with which you can come to the UK and work for up to six months at a time. It has been introduced to meet the labor market needs in the UK. Now anyone from anywhere in the world can apply for this visa and there’s no age limit for it. The requirements and documents for this visa are very basic and there are around 40,000 visas issued every single year under this category.
Now, how much will it cost you? If your UK employer is sponsoring you completely, then you don’t need to worry at all. These employers usually have tie-ups with solicitors or immigration lawyers that will just ask you for your documents and process your application for you so you don’t have to pay anything or do anything yourself. If your employer does not sponsor you, then you’ll just have to pay an application fee to the UK government which is 259 pounds. You’ll also have to deposit at least 1270 pounds in your bank account as your maintenance funds or proof of funds. If your employer is not providing that for you, this amount will always remain yours and is meant for your daily expenses like rent, accommodation, food, etc. In most cases, UK employers cover the complete cost for you to move to the UK so you can be a little carefree about this cost.
Now for the job positions under this visa under the seasonal work visa, you can apply for jobs in the horticulture and poultry industries which are the fruit, vegetable, and flower growing and harvesting businesses and a domesticated avian business for birds raised for eggs, meat, and or feathers. The most common job positions available in these industries are fruit pickers, vegetable pickers, packers, farm equipment operators, farm workers, farm managers, dairy farm workers, animal caretakers, broiler processing, plant workers and managers, farm transporters, hatchery managers, lab technicians, nutritionists, poultry vets, breeding managers, forklift operators, warehouse workers, warehouse managers, inventory managers, accountants, sales workers, store managers, store persons, etc. You’ll be provided adequate training for each job position. Now do remember that for these positions you don’t need any qualifications or English tests or higher education.
There’s no age limit for it and even freshers can apply for many of these positions coming to the requirements. The main requirements are that you must be at least 18 years of age. You must have a cos or certificate of sponsorship from a UK employer.
Next, you’ll need at least 1270 pounds in your bank account as maintenance funds or proof of funds to make sure that you can support yourself in the UK to pay for rent, travel, and groceries. If your employer is providing you with accommodation and other expenses, then you don’t need to have these maintenance funds. You should not have any criminal record in any country of the world, so you’ll need a police verification report for this coming to the documents required.
You’ll also need a valid passport to enter the UK and for your visa. You’ll also need other documents like bank statements as proof of funds. Unless your employer specifies in the cos letter that they are willing to sponsor you completely, including the 1270 pounds that are required as maintenance funds. You need a PCC or police clearance certificate from your home country to make sure that you don’t have any criminal convictions in the past. These are the only documents required. You don’t even need a TB test as that’s required only for visas that are longer than six months.
