How to Transition from Graduate route visa to Skilled Worker Visa – Application Tips & Updates

All about transition from a graduate route visa to a skilled worker visa with a job offer, or without a job offer from the UK business.

Graduate Route Visa

1. Eligibility criteria.

You must be in the UK on a valid graduate or post-study visa. To apply for a skilled worker visa, you must have a valid job offer from an employer who has a valid sponsor licence. The job offer should meet the skill level and the salary requirement as per the Home Office requirements.

2. Documents required.

What you need to submit is a valid passport, certificate or sponsorship issued by your sponsor, and to meet the finance requirement, you must be able to show that you have a minimum of £1,270 in your bank account. However, if you have lived in the UK more than 12 months on a valid visa, or if you sponsor a certified maintenance or certificate of sponsorship, you do not need to require any evidence of funds. You may be also able to meet the English language requirement if you are a national of a majority English speaking country.

3. What is the application process?

Then complete the online application form on the UK government’s website and pay the relevant fee for the immigration surcharge and the visa application fees if you are being sponsored under the role eligible for Health and Care Worker Visa, you may be exempt from paying the huge immigration Health surcharge.

4. Scheduling biometric appointment.

Once the online application form is submitted and all relevant fees paid, you will have to schedule a biometric appointment to provide your fingerprints and photo at the Visa centre. It can take eight weeks for the Home Office to decide your application. The decision can be expedited by paying an additional fee for priority or super priority service.

5. What if you don’t have a sponsor?

I would suggest start your own business. If you have a genuine business idea, open a business bank account, register your company for VAT and pay. Get them to insurance and you must have at least one settled person to act as a key personnel to apply for. Sponsor licence for your own business. Once you get the sponsor licence for your own business, you can then go on to sponsor yourself for a skilled worker visa. Transitioning from visa to a skilled worker visa requires understanding the complexities of immigration law to ensure a successful outcome.
