As a Learning Disabilities Support Worker you will be part of a committed team to deliver a personalised plan to support individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism, providing a holistic service focusing on fostering independence and self-esteem, promoting social inclusion and improving quality of life for everyone who comes through our doors.

You’ll be offering practical, emotional and social assistance to customers to help them reach their desired results, whether that’s getting certificates, learning to manage money, travelling independently or developing social skills. You’ll also assist people with daily living duties, personal care including eating and drinking.

What You Need to Be a Learning Disabilities Support Worker

  • A desire for delivering a high standard of care and assistance to persons with learning impairments and/or autism
  • Very good listening and communication abilities
  • To have an empathic outlook
  • To be ready to give personal care
  • Basic IT abilities to record customer information
  • To be pro-active in your approach to work and to be able to operate independently
  • To be able to operate flexibly as the working environment requires
  • To work with the ECL Values of Caring, Excellence, Integrity and Teamwork

Experience in the caring sector is desirable but not necessary as complete training will be offered.

Travel within Essex is required for training, attending other centres and community activities.
