Main Duties – Pharmacist Responsibilities UK
Providing Clinical Services
Offer all NHS services, such as:
Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS)
New Medicine Service (NMS)
Structured Medication Reviews (if they apply)
Finding Cases of Hypertension
Services to Help People Stop Smoking
Vaccination programs that happen every year, like for the flu and COVID-19
Offer private medical services like:
Vaccinations and health consultations for travel
Plans for managing weight
Private prescribing (if you are qualified)
Health screening services, like checking for high cholesterol or diabetes risk
Taking care of patients
Give patients excellent clinical advice and counselling on medications and minor health issues.
Encourage health and well-being by getting patients involved early on.
Make sure that criteria for patient privacy and safety are met.
Operations and Dispensing
Make ensuring that prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and quickly.
Follow the rules set by the GPhC and your pharmacy’s SOPs.
Help the pharmacy team manage their operations and provide good service
Where necessary, oversee and train pharmacy support staff
Growth of Services
Find ways to add more clinical services to your business.
Help your business develop by providing great service and making sure your patients are happy.
Help meet service goals and key performance indicators (KPIs)
What you need – Pharmacist Job Requirements UK
Important
Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a chemist
Strong clinical expertise and a focus on the patient
Great talents in communication and getting along with others
Ability to provide NHS advanced and enhanced services
Dedication to ongoing professional development (CPD)
Wanted
Independent Prescriber qualification (or willingness to train)
Experience providing private medical services
Experience working in a community pharmacy or service-led setting
Accreditation for vaccinations
