In summary
We are looking for a caring and committed Health Care Assistant (Domiciliary) to deliver excellent care to people in their own homes. This profession also gives you the opportunity to serve clients with a variety of requirements such as geriatric care, disability support and specific dementia or Alzheimer’s care. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to fostering independence and wellbeing, creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all customers. Responsibilities
Help clients with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, clothing and ambulation assistance
Administer medications as ordered.
Cook healthy food customised to specific nutritional needs
Help with minor housekeeping to preserve a clean and safe environment
Offer company and emotional support to help alleviate feelings of loneliness or isolation.
Help with specific care needs like dementia, Alzheimer’s, hospice or behavioural management
Transportation to and from appointments or social activities as needed.
Monitor and record health status and communicate any concerns to health care experts
Help with light physical activity or exercise to increase mobility and wellbeing
In emergency situations, proper first aid procedures should be applied.
Requirements
Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home or home care settings preferred
Understanding patient care, dementia, Alzheimer’s, hospice and senior care practices
It is helpful to be certified in basic life support and first aid
Hold a valid driving license and be able to drive safely to client locations
Strong caregiving abilities and a caring attitude towards clients of all ages (children and elderly)
Ability to carry large weight when necessary and help with mobility support
Strong communication skills and competence in handling behavioural challenges
Medication Management and Documentation Compliance Organization Skills
Flexible to work varying hours as necessary by client needs.
