Overview of the Job
Joining our busy South Wales team as a Healthcare Support Worker (Retinal Photographer) is a great opportunity. You will be responsible for providing screening clinics to participants directly, mainly in the area, but you will also have the option to stay overnight on a regular basis to help run clinic locations around Mid Wales. Transporting equipment in Diabetic Eye Screening vehicles requires the ability to move between locations.

Principal responsibilities of the position
Principal Duties:
- Assist participants with their screening appointments while maintaining correct documentation.
- In the allotted time, apply eye drops and precisely measure pupil dilation.
- Use specialist cameras to take sharp digital pictures of the retina.
- Follow normal operating procedures and DESW guidelines to the letter.
- Drive the Trust’s light-goods vehicle to clinic locations, mostly in Powys and South Wales, but also occasionally in other parts of Wales.
Qualifications
Essential
- The following qualifications are desirable: a GSCE in English language and mathematics, an HND, a Level 2 NVQ in literacy and numeracy, or an equivalent degree in photography or healthcare.
- Dedication to lifelong learning and proof of CPD
- A high level of general education
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Experience with health or social services
- Working as a multidisciplinary team
- Direct patient interaction and a customer-facing position
- Recognising the significance of adhering to procedures and rules
- Interest in screening services and/or photographs

- Computer-savvy, particularly with Windows packages
