Primary responsibilities of the position
To promote and oversee the physical and mental well-being of service users while serving as a crucial and highly esteemed part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team under the guidance and supervision of community mental health professionals. delivering holistic, person-centred treatment that empowers clients to pursue their rehabilitation objectives.
In order to support service users’ recovery journeys, the Community Support Worker will assist each service user in locating, obtaining, and participating in local community support, as well as in creating an individual support network and independent living skills.
In order to encourage recovery or stop deterioration, the position holder will carry out our Carers Assessments and collaborate with service users and carers who have been determined to have eligible social care needs.
They will be required to follow Trust policies and procedures, work with little supervision, and use socially inclusive and value-based practices. While they won’t be in charge of safeguarding investigations, Community Support Workers will be in charge of identifying, warning, and addressing concerns as part of their job or as instructed by a registered practitioner, including helping with efficient protection planning.

Personal Specification
Qualifications and Training in Education
- NVQ level 3 or comparable experience in mental health
Skills and Capabilities of Community Mental Health Support Worker
- The capacity to focus on a patient’s rehabilitation journey while working with them individually or in groups.
- The capacity to empower and equip patients in a way that boosts their confidence, self-esteem, and ability to recognise positive aspects of themselves.
- Outstanding communication abilities both in writing and speaking that are pertinent to the legal requirements of client care, associated matters, and the recording of that care.
- The capacity to employ evidence-based methodologies in the provision of care and to assist the multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of mental and physical care relevant to the needs of the client group and clinical specialism.
- The capacity to identify stress in oneself and others, manage it correctly, and seek out more help when needed.
- Capacity to operate both independently and collaboratively
Show that you are conscious of the potential effects that your communication style and approach may have on service users, their carers, and team members. - Be ready to employ reflection in action and on action to better comprehend and gain insight from events and experiences that take place both inside and outside of the workplace, as well as how they can affect one another.
Prior Experience (Community Mental Health Support Worker)
- Experience working with adults who have both acute and long-term mental health issues
