The role’s objective

To assist customers in all area of their daily lives in order to maximise their quality of life. Most of the time, you will work alone or in tandem with our clients in their homes. While giving care and support has many benefits, it can also be difficult. This crucial position in our organisation requires empathy, effective communication, and composure.

Important duties

To fulfil each client’s unique requirements and desires by offering safe, dependable, empathetic care and assistance. Since every individual is different, you must always uphold the dignity of your clients and respect their choices regarding the care and support they receive. Since you can be the only person the client sees for a while, it is crucial that you notify your manager right away of any changes or issues. To protect our clients and advance their wellbeing, you must be clear about when to ask for assistance and guidance.

Responsibilities: Support and care

Rather of only looking at a list of care needs, provide anti-discriminatory care and assistance that values the full person. Pay close attention to what each client wants from the way they receive care and support on a daily basis. To help them become as independent as possible, assist them in making their own judgements. Observe the guidelines in the care and support plan that you and each client have agreed upon. This could consist of:

  • Every facet of personal care, including toileting, dental hygiene, dressing and grooming, washing and bathing, and continence care
  • Helping with medication, placing orders, picking up prescriptions, or sending unwanted medications back to the pharmacist for secure disposal
  • Encourage the client to eat and drink healthily by, for example, helping them plan their meals, clearing the table, cleaning, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, as well as by advising them on how to store food securely and when to throw away expired products.
  • Safely utilising personal equipment and aids while maintaining the dignity of clients, such as employing electric hoists, sliding sheets, wheelchairs, walking frames, hearing aids, and other physical aids
  • Dusting, cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, laundry, ironing, making beds, and changing linens are examples of household chores.
  •  Hobbies include gaming, reading, photo albums, and so on; social and physical activities or mental stimulation like staying in touch with friends and family; taking a client shopping or to social activities
  • Assisting a client throughout a temporary or terminal sickness, including hospital stays, end-of-life care, and communication with family and community health assistance.

    Keep track of and report

  •  The aid with medications and the care and support you offer
  •  Modifications to the client’s health or other issues, such as malfunctioning equipment or potential dangers in the house
  • Reaction to crises, mishaps, catastrophes, and safety issues
  • Interaction with families, representatives, caretakers, and other experts
  • Additional topics as mandated by TLC Carers protocols
  • To safeguard our clients’ interests, keep all information about them and their families private and secure, unless sharing is required by policy.
  • Perform well as a member of the TLC Carers team.
  • Adhere to TLC Carers’ guidelines, regulations, and procedures at all times.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and staff.

Participate in supervision, training, and evaluation sessions.

Types of Jobs: Permanent, Part-Time, and Full-Time

Hourly wage: £12.21–£13.24
