Overview of the Job

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our busy department of dermatology.

Serving as a central point of contact for patients on a suspected cancer pathway, ensuring that their unique needs are met and that care is tailored to meet those needs, facilitating smooth, coordinated pathway delivery, including through escalation, and improving, more individualised patient experiences are the main goals of the Cancer Pathway coordinator position.

Principal responsibilities of the position

In order to facilitate person-centred care and effective pathway implementation (including meeting the 28 Day Faster Diagnosis Standard), the position holder will collaborate closely with the larger cancer team (clinical and administrative) as well as other important health and social care providers.

As patients are traced through the department, the Cancer Pathway Coordinator will be involved from the start of the pathway until the patient receives a definitive diagnosis, whether or not it is cancer. To guarantee that skin surgery and diagnostic tests are scheduled on time, they will keep up good communication with and on behalf of the client with staff and services. The Pathway coordinator is expected to pay particular attention to making sure that any possible delays in dermatology are resolved so that the patient journey can go as quickly and smoothly as feasible. In order to remove delays and bottlenecks, the position holder will flexibly and responsively identify and address care barriers.

Experience

  • Working as a healthcare assistant or a comparable position, such as a therapy assistant, in a hospital setting for at least a year
  • Current statutory mandatory training
  • Experience working in the field of dermatology
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive needs analyses

Qualifications

GCSE or equivalent English and math grade of at least C
