Key Responsibilities

Main tasks of the job

Respond to and take care of urgent, special, and planned patient transfer requests

To make sure that patients always get the care they need, within the limits of this role’s training and skills, and that the right degree of monitoring and treatment is kept up until the patient is either released or handed over to another healthcare professional,

To employ advanced driving skills under blue light and regular traffic circumstances to answer emergency and routine calls as needed

To drive high-dependency vehicles and provide low-acuity treatment to patients who need to be admitted to acute care right away or moved to a higher level of care

Talk to and deal with patients, their families, carers, and the public in a calm, kind, and professional way. Make sure that patients’ dignity is respected and that they provide their informed consent for all assessments and movements.

Use patient lifting tools including stretchers, wheelchairs, carry chairs, and stair climbers to move patients safely and quickly in both home and hospital settings.

Eligibility Criteria

Requirements

You must have had a full UK driving licence for at least a year.

The B1 category (driving a vehicle up to 3500 kg) must be on your driving licence.

At least two GCSEs (or the same level) with grades A-C, including

English language or literature and maths, or a Level 2 Functional Skills certificate or a Level 3 certification in a health care-related field.

Experience

On the road, an ambulance experience.

Working with the public is something I have done before.

Skills

Good verbal, writing, and listening abilities.

Able to deal with sensitive circumstances with confidence and care.

Show that you can and are willing to give high-quality care to patients that meets their needs.

Duties (Certificate of Sponsorship UK)

Help clients with their everyday tasks, like getting dressed, taking care of their personal hygiene, and moving around.

Help clients get involved with their care plans to improve their health and independence.

Give people in care homes or home care settings companionship and emotional support.

Keep accurate records of the care you give and let the right professionals know if the client’s condition changes.

Always follow health and safety rules to make sure the area is safe.

Help with light household chores like cooking, doing laundry, and cleaning as needed.

When necessary, drive clients to their appointments or social events, making sure they get there safely.

Abilities (Certificate of Sponsorship UK)

Good communication skills and the ability to work well with clients, families, and healthcare providers.

Basic computer abilities for keeping records and updating care records.

Ability to follow specific care plans that are made for each person’s needs.

To securely get clients to appointments or activities, you need to be able to drive.

Experience working in a care facility or giving home care is a plus, but not required. Training will be given if needed.

To talk to clients and coworkers clearly, you need to be fluent in English.

Summary of the Job

We are happy to announce two new openings for support staff to join our growing services.

These jobs will help people with mental health problems move back into their homes and back into the community when they leave the Accident & Emergency Departments and inpatient hospital beds.

I think we have a chance to make this experience better for the patients we care for when they go home and use services.

Main tasks of the job

The person in this position will work with Mental Health Liaison Practitioners and be based in The Mental Health Liaison Service (Working Age Adults). The job will involve dealing with people who have mental health issues and other vulnerabilities who have been to the Emergency Departments and Inpatient Wards at Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals.

The person in this position will help clients get to and use a variety of community programs. This will likely improve their mental health, social problems, and lower their chance of re-offending. The person in this position will work closely with a small group of people who are likely to have a lot of different mental health issues and a lot of other complex needs, such as being homeless, abusing drugs, having a history of high-risk behaviour, and being socially isolated. These people may also act in very difficult ways at times.

The support and recovery professionals will work with clients one-on-one for a set amount of time. This will give clients access to a wide range of programs that can help them with issues like mental health, housing, social exclusion, substance abuse, education, employment, and debt management. The person who gets the job will need to build solid relationships with community resources so that people can go to services more easily and with more support.

Requirements for the Person

A Foundation Degree, HNC, occupational qualification level three, or something similar, along with short courses or the completion of a competency workbook or related experience to the level of an undergraduate diploma.

Proven expertise working with a vulnerable category of clients, such as persons with mental health concerns.

Experience working alone and handling a full workload.

Ability to work with others in a proactive way to assist them reach their objectives and needs.
