Are you eager to move and applying for your first position as a prison guard? Get your career off to a fantastic start by working for 23 months in HMP Whitemoor and gaining useful experience before moving back to HMP Leeds permanently.

We are hiring prison guards to cover openings at HMP Leeds in the future, in addition to officers who are currently needed. We are recruiting under this special futures scheme, which promises you a prison officer post at HMP Leeds permanently, but during the first 23 months of service, you will work at HMP Whitemoor. This is because we need officers to fill vacancies at other prisons.

It’s a fantastic chance. In addition to receiving assistance with housing expenses for up to 23 months, a recruitment and retention payment at 12 and 23 months, and a paid monthly trip home, you will have access to a wider range of experiences. Along with other rookie officers who, like you, will be returning to HMP Leeds at the conclusion of their 23-month deployment, you won’t be alone.

What’s available?

• For a maximum of 23 months, we will cover your lodging expenses (up to £750 per month).

Qualifications

In order to work as a prison guard, you must:

• be at least eighteen when you start working.
• fulfil the standards for civil service nationality (see the section on nationality below).

You must pass a medical and fitness evaluation as part of the application process because this is a physically demanding job.

• fulfil the necessary vision requirements in both eyes (with and without corrective glasses)

Everyone undergoing prison officer training must have a satisfactory standard of hearing (without the use of hearing aids) for safety reasons.

Although visible tattoos are acceptable, they cannot be considered in any manner offensive, discriminatory, violent, or intimidating. Generally speaking, facial tattoos are unacceptable unless they are necessary for cultural, religious, or medicinal reasons.

You must have lived in the UK for the previous three years in order to work in a high security prison (Category A).

Journey to Work

Since some prisons are located in remote areas with few public transportation choices, having a driver’s license and own vehicle is advantageous but not necessary for the position (unless otherwise noted). Please be aware that the start and end times of your shifts are set, and it is your obligation to be at work and leave on time. Requirements for nationality

The following groups are generally eligible for this position:

Prisons are open seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. This implies that you will have to cover a variety of work patterns, such as weekends, public holidays, evenings, and some nights.
