The India Young Professionals Scheme visa ballot dates for February 2025 have been revealed. Today, the ballot for the upcoming India Young Professionals Scheme was revealed. The opportunity to live, work, and study in the UK for a maximum of two years is available to eligible Indian nationals between the ages of 18 and 30. 3,000 Indian applicants will be able to travel to the UK under the Young Professionals Scheme (YPS) as part of the UK and India’s post-Brexit trade deal negotiations. However, they will have to meet additional “country-specific eligibility requirements” that aren’t included in other bilateral agreements for the Youth Mobility Scheme. When is the Young Professionals Scheme application ballot for Indians?
On February 18, 2025, the next India Young Professionals Scheme ballot will open at 2:30 PM India Standard Time and finish on February 20, 2025, again at 2:30 PM India Standard Time. As long as the ballot is open, you can cast it whenever you choose. During the 48-hour period, the entry link is available there.
The India Young Professionals Scheme visa has 3,000 spots available overall in 2025. The majority of the spots will be available in this year’s first ballot. In July, the second and final ballot will be used to determine the remaining spots. Those who didn’t make the February ballot can also enter the July draw.
The Young Professionals Scheme: How to Join
For the 48 hours between February 18 and 20, the link to join the initiative will be available on the UK Home Office website here. Make sure to arrive early because there were issues last year with the large number of people entering.
You will have to submit your:
- Name
- Birthdate
- Details of a passport
- Your passport photo or scan
- Phone number
- Email address
Entries that are accepted will be chosen at random. Within two weeks of the poll ending, you will receive an email with the results.
Who can apply for a visa under the India Young Professionals Scheme?
To apply for the India Young Professionals Scheme, you must first apply for and be chosen from the India Young Professionals Scheme ballot.
In order to qualify for a visa under the India Young Professionals Scheme, you need to:
- Be between the ages of 18 and 30 and a citizen or national of India.
- On the day you intend to visit the UK, you must be at least eighteen years old.
- Possess a bachelor’s degree or above (level 6, 7, or 8 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework).
- Have savings of £2,530 to sustain yourself in the UK.
- Do not reside with or be financially responsible for any children under the age of eighteen.
- If you have previously visited the UK on this or the Youth Mobility Scheme, you are not eligible to apply.
What occurs if you are selected for a visa under the Young Professionals Scheme?
Be sure to check your junk email since successful applicants will be requested to apply for a visa. They will have 90 days from the time of the email invitation to apply online and pay the visa application cost (currently £298) and immigration health surcharge (currently £1,552 for the two-year visa).
You must either use the “UK Immigration: ID Check” app to scan your identity document or have your fingerprints and photo taken at a visa application centre in order to obtain a biometric residence permit.
You should hear back on your visa application in around three weeks after submitting your documents, proving your identification, and completing the online application. After submitting your visa application, you have six months to visit the UK.
How much does it cost to apply for the Young Professionals Scheme?
It is free to cast a ballot. You are not required to notify the UK Home Office if you decide not to apply for a visa after winning the ballot. In addition to the £298 visa application price, if selected on the ballot, there is a mandatory £1,552 healthcare surcharge that must be paid in order to access the UK’s healthcare system throughout the two-year visa period. To be eligible for a YPS visa, applicants must show that they have £2,530 in personal savings.
What can you do in the UK with a Young Professionals Scheme visa?
Those who are accepted will receive a 24-month visa. During this time, participants are free to enter, exit, and re-enter the UK.
You can study (certain courses require the Academic Technology Approval Scheme), work in most jobs, work for yourself, or even start your own business as long as the space is rented, the equipment is under £5,000, and there are no employees. With your visa, you are not allowed to work as a professional athlete, remain longer, get government assistance, or bring family members to the UK.
How may UK citizens use the Young Professionals Scheme to apply for a visa to India?
The program is a bilateral agreement that allows qualified UK graduates between the ages of 18 and 30 to visit and work in India for a period of two years. British grads can apply for the program at any time and are not required to complete a ballot. Details are available on the High Commission of India’s website here, and the cost is £720.
