UK Domiciliary Care Assistant (Sponsorship Available)

You will support our staff and provide excellent care to all of our service users, doing everything it takes to ensure they receive the finest service possible. Whether you are assisting with observations, providing personal care to service users, or listening to service users who are disturbed, frightened, depressed, or irritated, you will experience the impact of your role every minute you work.

Our hospitals and teams do not close, so we work on a shift basis. Our service users require our care and attention 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so everyone participates by working different shifts to ensure they receive the finest treatment possible.
With recent expertise in mental health, you will discover that your talents are applicable to our healthcare facilities and service users.

The main responsibilities of the position

  • Help service users with their daily activities.
  • Engage and watch service users to establish a safe environment for recovery.

  • Meeting NHS standards of care while conforming to AWP policies and procedures.

Berkshire Liaison & Diversion has an interesting Peer Support Worker post available for an 18-month fixed term for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with prior experience in the criminal justice system and a history of vulnerability, such as mental health or substance abuse. If you are steady in your recovery journey and have exhibited a period of stability and personal improvement, this could be an excellent opportunity to begin a new career in care.

The main responsibilities of the position

Using your own experience with the Criminal Justice System, treatment, and recovery, you will support service users with vulnerabilities moving through the Criminal Justice System.

You will serve as a positive role model, assisting our service users in understanding, inspiring, motivating, guiding, and supporting their engagement with services and recovery efforts. You will demonstrate demonstrable recovery and illustrate that change is possible.

You will provide emotional and practical support to our service-users by using your own lived experience of the criminal justice system and the problems and fears it can create, enabling them to reach a positive future.

Person Specification

Essential criteria

  • Lived involvement with the criminal justice system, including being arrested and taken into police custody, as well as demonstrable rehabilitation for at least one year after ceasing contact with the criminal justice system.
  • Required to demonstrate recovery capital and a 1-3 year period of abstinence from substance abuse (including alcohol), as well as a minimum of one year of compliance with any licence conditions/requirements.

Desirable requirements

  • Having firsthand lived experience with recovery from substance abuse, mental illness, or other vulnerabilities.
