Charity Visa UK: For the start of our 2025 Summer Season in April 2025 and beyond, Shakespeare’s Globe is presently seeking additional volunteer stewards. Beginning in November 2025, all volunteers will also have the chance to take care of the stunning Sam Wanamaker Playhouse during the winter months.
All volunteers have their travel fees covered, and those working a double shift—matinees followed by evening events—are given a dinner.

Role Description
Anyone 18 years of age or older from any background is eligible to volunteer at Shakespeare’s Globe, and prior experience is not required.
Volunteers who can work at least 12 shifts during our summer season (April–October) are needed. From Monday through Sunday, shifts are held in the afternoons and nights and run around four hours. Our online booking system allows you to browse and schedule volunteer programs at your convenience. After completing your summer shift commitment, you can continue volunteering during the Globe’s winter season, which runs from November to April.
You can claim up to £20.30 per day for travel expenses as a volunteer. If you volunteer for two shifts on a single day, you will also receive a complimentary supper.
- Receive complimentary tickets to select shows at the Yard.
- Obtain a Better Bankside Buzz Card that offers nearby discounts.
- Participate in volunteer social gatherings, festivities, and excursions.
- Apply for internal Globe positions and receive interview feedback.
- Take advantage of sales at our restaurant, coffee, and store.
KEY DUTIES
- Help staff take care of our guests to ensure their happiness and safety.
- Be a good representative of Shakespeare’s Globe by upholding our principles of diversity, equality, anti-racism, and helping others.
- Greet guests, verify tickets, and direct guests to their seats.
- Respond to questions from guests and provide information. Utilise our cushion carts to process credit card payments for programs and cushion rentals.
- Keep an eye on the audience throughout performances.
- Help employees evacuate the location in an emergency (complete training will be provided).
