Since September, Ms. McWhey claimed, she has been trying unsuccessfully to find employment. When she graduates in two months, she worries that she won’t have a job.
“My cohort of students has been discussing what we’re going to do,” the speaker stated. Some of us are going to forgo our [qualification] in favour of working as healthcare assistants in hospitals until we can find openings, which is something we never would have imagined doing. Who can say when that will happen?
“It is absurd that qualified healthcare professionals cannot find jobs in an NHS that is under-resourced, and patients are not receiving the care they deserve,” a spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Social treatment stated. We’re committed to making that change.

“The NHS needs to take immediate action to address the issue of unsatisfied graduates finding inadequate roles, as this could further impede efforts to establish a long-term, sustainable nursing workforce.”
According to separate data collected by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, advertisements for dental nurses have decreased by 36% and children’s nursing postings have decreased by 25% during the past year.
Advertisements for community nurses decreased by 23%, and those for midwives fell by 19%.
“It’s no secret that the NHS is operating under tremendous financial pressure, and the results of our survey earlier this year showed just how stark this pressure has become,” stated Matthew Taylor, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, to The Independent.
