I am the type of person who remains calm under pressure and will always take responsibility of challenging situations when they arise.I believe in doing so in this instance, and by showing empathy and compassion, I was able to provide a positive outcome for the patient.

Wanting to help people have competent skills, be a great collaborator, being able to work hard under pressure are all great qualities to mention, but my advice here is to use the job description to match the key skills that they are after that they’ve stated on that job description and match them with your own skills and qualities. Otherwise, teamwork just won’t be possible. Again. Use the Star method. Use an example of when you’ve collaborated as a team to overcome a problem and make sure your example ends positively. That’s so crucial. And a great way to structure your answer using the Star technique is to use an example where you collaborated as a team and you overcame the issue with a positive outcome.

Tell me about a time when you worked as part of a team to complete a challenging task.
In my previous role as an animal care assistant at a wildlife rescue center, three robin hatchlings were brought to us. They’d been found under a tree after their nests had been displaced by wind.Due to their young age and the trauma they had experienced, it was vital that they received immediate veterinary attention. Two of my colleagues and I happened to be working this particular shift, and all three of us rushed to the attention of the robins. I knew that in order for them to survive, we had to work quickly. We quickly made the decision that the best course of action was to warm them up under a heat lamp. Despite me being close to the end of my shift, I chose to stay with my team and the robins to aid in their care to the best of my ability. Due to their young age, the birds were unable to feed independently. Each of us took the responsibility of one bird, hand feeding them and ensuring fluid intake. Due to our team efforts, all the robins recovered well, and there was a great sense of accomplishment from the team. I’m the type of person who fully appreciates the power of working as a unit to achieve a shared goal. I will always offer my help, and I will never let my colleagues down.
Okay, let’s move on to the next Care worker interview question, which is, what’s your availability?
As simple as this question sounds, many candidates get this wrong, and I will tell you why. So to impress the hiring manager, you need to show that you are flexible, and you can do this by saying these three things
Number one, you are reliable and punctual.
Number two, you can take on extra shifts at short notice.
And number three, you will be on hand to cover for absent staff.
So here’s a great example answer to help you. What’s your availability? Due to my personal circumstances, I can work the advertised hours reliably, and I’m also willing and available to work extra shifts on short notice when required. I recognize that as a care worker, you must be available at short notice to fill in for absent staff or lend a hand when necessary. This is something I’m more than willing to commit to. I’m also not the type of person who would leave my patients in a rush. As soon as my shift ended, I would always go above and beyond to ensure patient care is put first.
