Registered manager (Require Nursing Experience)


A) Job Purpose:

To assist the manager where applicable to the function and be delegated by the manager.

Able to step in for the management when they are away.

To assure the provision of high standard of care.


B) Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential:

Nursing background and minimum 3 years of experience in homecare or care home.

3 years experience in a supervising role.

The capacity to communicate well at all levels.

A commitment to being a team player.

An investment in individual professional development.

Good DBS Check.

Acceptable references.

Must be driver.

Desired:

Experience in working with older people/people with dementia/age related/complex care conditions.


C) Key responsibilities

Me:

To operate in a professional and flexible manner that helps the manager and staff team to provide a high standard of care.

To actively engage in learning opportunities and pursue training as required to maintain a high level of skills and knowledge for self.

Involvement in recruiting and induction of personnel and assessment of competence.

Provide staff group training utilising industry relevant DVDs and support material.

To organise and facilitate induction review/supervision/appraisal sessions to review and reflect upon your performance and that of the allotted staff group.

Scheduling and rostering system calls/visits to be allocated.

Always conduct yourself (including while off duty) in a manner that does not misrepresent the organisation or bring into disrepute its public and professional image.

To have acquired a working knowledge and understanding of the major features of the organisations policies and procedures, for yourself and the staff group.

To ensure absolute secrecy in and outside the home.


Communication:

To interact professionally and respectfully with top management, workers, visitors, outside professionals and clients.

To attend staff meetings and participate therein.

To attend and/or suitably assign any evaluations or meetings relevant to client care.

To ensure the proper maintenance of professional records of the care given.


D) Guidance and Law:

To be familiar with, and to keep up to date with, the key parts of legislation and advice – in particular:

i. the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (regulated activities rules 2014)

ii. The Mental Capacity Act 2005 (and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards)


E) Quality supervision:

You shall be responsible for checking the quality of the service and systems as specified from time to time and when any defect has been detected you shall report the situation to the Manager.

You will be responsible for conducting in house audits as assigned by the management to ensure compliance with Quality Assurance regulations.

You will make sure that outcomes are evidenced and logged where appropriate.

Where there have been missed issues in respect to a staff member’s duties or performance you will prompt them.


F) Customers

Respond to clients in a respectful manner.

To enable, support and encourage each client to achieve and retain their maximum potential.

To assist clients in maintaining their lifestyle choice.

To guarantee the staff group conducts the activities to a high standard of performance.

To assist in the assessment of client’s requirements and assist in the development and review of care plans.

To ensure the provision of a high standard of personal care and support including social activities, intimate care, incontinence, confusion, behaviours, end of life by conducting reviews and spot checks.
