1. Corrymeela

We help thousands of people from diverse backgrounds coexist peacefully in our increasingly divided world.

By bringing thousands of individuals into brave talks that strengthen our mutual respect and enable us to coexist peacefully, we aspire to have contributed to a more united and hopeful society by 2025.

Applications are now being accepted for 2025–2026.

Searching for an encounter that will change your life?

Our Long-Term Volunteer Program gives you the chance to live at our Ballycastle Centre for a year, helping our teams run programs for groups from all backgrounds and allowing participants to develop stronger bonds and learn how to coexist peacefully.

Not everyone is suited to volunteer at Corrymeela. Long hours, adaptability, and a sincere desire to develop via positive and difficult experiences are necessary. We sincerely hope you will think about volunteering at Corrymeela.

Role Objective

Supporting and assisting staff with the actual duties and obligations involved in welcoming and hosting groups is the Long-Term Volunteer’s job at Corrymeela. The Volunteer Program Manager will receive assistance from Volunteer Support in attending to the needs of the residential volunteers. To promote the welfare of the lived community, this may entail organising residential retreats, facilitating reflective spaces, meeting with volunteers, and supervising both on- and off-site activities.

Key Activities Volunteer Assistance

  • To offer the lived community a steady and encouraging presence
  • To supervise the volunteers’ weekly reflecting areas and assist in organising residential retreats to promote a sense of community
  • To actively participate in the center’s common life and shared rhythms.
  • To guarantee that all residential volunteers have access to meetings, activities, check-ins, and support.
  • To encourage volunteers to communicate with host families, particularly in stressful or emergency situations, and to use host family support off-site.
  • To assist in organising volunteers’ transportation to medical facilities, emergency rooms, and physicians’ appointments after hours, as well as the arrival and departure of temporary volunteers
  • To assist the volunteering program administratively as needed
  • To assist with the repair and preservation of the volunteer housing
  • To kindly practise and exhibit exceptional hospitality and give everyone a warm welcome.

Out-of-pocket costs

A monthly expenditure reimbursement will be given to volunteers to help with necessary out-of-pocket costs. At the moment, this can reach £170 a month. Accommodations and meals are also offered. After the volunteer placement is over, there is no guarantee of employment. Our weeks typically consist of forty hours per week.

Flight, Visa (Tier 5 Charity Visa Sponsorship), and Healthcare Information

To work with Corrymeela, volunteers from outside the UK or the Republic of Ireland must apply for and be granted a UK Tier 5 Charity Worker or Tier 5 Religious Worker visa. This UK visa will set you back about £300 (GBP). Additionally, volunteers who need a visa and stay in Corrymeela for six months or longer must pay £1,035 (GBP) to the National Health Service (NHS) at the time of the visa application. Volunteers are required to pay for their own travel expenses (including airfare), visas, and NHS fees.

HOW TO APPLY

2. The Baptist Union of Wales (Mission Workers to Wales)

Wales, like much of Western Europe, has welcomed missionaries from abroad to assist the local church in its missionary work since it was realised that Wales could now be regarded as a mission field.

The Baptist Union of Wales has acknowledged this by answering international questions about the potential advantages of mission collaborations. To link mission workers from outside the UK with possible initiatives in areas where churches cannot afford ministry and mission.

We have now successfully registered with UK Visas & Immigration to sponsor both Tier 2 (Minister of Religion) and Tier 5 (Religious Workers) workers from outside the UK with the consent of BUW Trustees. Careful oversight is necessary to guarantee that any employees supported to collaborate with the BUW are aware of the Welsh background and culture.

Individuals, churches, or organisations who feel a divine calling to cooperate with the Baptist Union of Wales in Wales are eligible to apply for this program; however, applications will not be considered unless the following requirements are fulfilled.

All VISA-supported employees must have the endorsement of a recognised sending organisation (a mission agency), together with letters of recommendation and references attesting to the financial and commendatory support provided.

The sending organisation must provide full funding for ALL of our VISA-sponsored employees. We need financial proof of your ability to support yourself because this is a requirement of the VISA. Being completely funded indicates that you will have enough money to sustain yourself during your visit. This covers all of your living expenses while in the UK as well as any travel and VISA-related fees.

We always establish these two crucial requirements above before speaking with potential candidates for VISA sponsorship.
